ok here it goes,

i have a single 150gb raptor and a single 300gb caviar i want to add
another 150gb raptor and run the two in RAID 0. That being said...

I'm almost positive i have to reformat my one raptor (which has vista
on it) before adding the second to run them in RAID, am i correct in
this matter?

Ok second question... how do i reformat under vista, been searching the
net for a few days now and all i can find is half cocked answers that
dont really help me much. So i thought I'd ask the pro's on both
matters.

And now that i think about it ... is it possible to reformat and leave
the HD blank from vista or is it gonna be a jerk and make me reinstall
it immediatly (i need to install the new hd and put them in raid0
first).

Any help would be much appreciated

Just built the array from the RAID bios setup menu...
no need to format the one drive ahead of time as all data on it will be lost
when the RAID is built.

Of course don't forget to back up your data!
(But you already knew that)

To be on the safe side...I'd leave the 300gig drive disconnected when you do
that

Yeah i knew id lose my data...this is purely a gaming rig (hence raid
0)so theres nothing i can lose that wouldn't be fun obtaining again.

wait...so i don't have to reformat, i can just set up a raid array and
it will wipe the disk for me?

would it be a good idea to reformat anyway just to be on the safe side?

Don't bother formatting. Waste of time . . .

When you set up the RAID 0 array it will basically map both drives as one
large physical drive that you can then partition as you see fit, just as if
it was a single, large hard drive.

In mapping the drives this way, all original partition data will be lost, so
a format prior to setting up the array will do nothing to speed, or ease the
process, and only waste the time it would take to format.
