Vista Registry Entries

We currently insert registry entries into XP home to lock down stand alone
systems. We discover what entries to insert by using gpedit on an XP Pro
machine, looking at how it changed the registry, then adding those keys to
our insertion (.reg) file.

My question is can the same procedure be done with gpedit on Vista business
(for gpedit) and Vista Home Basic (for insertion)? In other words are there
things you can't insert into the Vista Home Basic registry?

Thanks

I can only speak for Home Premium, but there's a pretty good mapping between
the group policy changes and registry settings.

There's a download from Microsoft that shows the exact mappings between the
gpedit.msc settings and registry settings.

Group Policy Settings Reference Windows Vista
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Other settings can also be changed using command line tools eg using the
'net', 'auditpol' commands etc.
