Vista Registry Keys

In previous Windows versions, when you accessed a registry key, the folder
icon beside that key would look "open" so you knew what key you were on.
This is especially useful when doing reg searches.
In Vista Ultimate, there is no way to tell what key is selected! The icons
don't change, the font doesn't bold, nothing. What a PITA.

Hi,

Click view/status bar and you can see which key is currently in focus. To
see which one is open, look to the small triangular indicators on the left
of the key.

I use this registry mod to change to open folder icon. Affects the
left-hand pane of Explorer & Regedit. You can change the icon reference to
anything you like. You'll need to log off & back on for the change to take
effect.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\explorer\Shell
Icons]
"4"="C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\SHELL32.dll,137"
