vista remote now not working

Hi HELP
Am over in USA from Australia, and was using my laptop, with vista home
basic and remote desktop connecting into my server @ work with no problems.
I now am staying at a hotel in USA and my rdc will not connect. It gets as
far as the screen with the IP address on the top and shows 1/2 the windows
symbol and then doesnt seem to have enuf grunt (or energy to keep going)
thought it was the hotel but also have an xp laptop and that worked?? My
windows live wont connect either it also just keeps trying and
trying...anyone help would be gr8 as need to do work.

What port are you trying to connect with. Port 25 by any chance ???

Ok this is obviously complete stupitity on my behalf (new to vista) where do
i find what the port is?
