If I try to copy any file from my desktop to a usb drive I get a message
that 'This is no longer located in C:\Users\Mine\Desktop. Verify the item's
location and try again. My desktop is covered in files and any of them give
the same message.

Hi trevor

Just one thing
what you see on your desktop is actually the combination of of tw
locations, Your user desktop at C:\users\*-Username-*\desktop and th
public desktop at C:\Users\Public\Desktop. which is a hidden syste
folder. it may be that the icons you see are actually on the publi
desktop right click on the shortcut and check in details if this is th
case as this may be causing the error. You should have access rights t
these public items but this may not be the cas

ExplorerXP, a freeware Explorer replacement, is available here:
http://www.explorerxp.com/

It displays everything on your system without all the hidden/permissions
headaches MS insisted on including with Vista. It's amazingly like the old
days, when you could open Windows Explorer and trust that you were seeing
everything on your system.

Since I own my system, and nobody but me uses it, I'm still waiting for
someone to explain to me who the hell I need "permission" from to work with
my files.
