Vista Scheduler

I can not seem to do the simplest thing with the scheduler.

I have gotten the popup action to work twice (out of a dozen tries). I can
NEVER get the e-mail to work. It always returns error 0x8004020d which I can
not find listed anywhere.

I can get the computer to wake up from standby, run the popup with a return
code of success. But the popup has only shown up twice - even when running
the task while logged on.

Does anyone know of a tutorial? Or what the damn error code means?

(BTW - I am very experienced with real-time schedulers - not with the
Windows one though).

I may not have understood your situation, but it's possible part of your
trouble is the lack of a GUI for scheduled tasks when you select the option
to run even if not logged on. The 'run when logged on only' option shows the
activity on the screen, but the 'run when not logged on one does not.
The email error would be an additional problem, not part of that, and is
probably a Permissions error. I would check the email app for an Options
setting to not allow third party stuff to run the app.

I was a bit unclear - I really had 2 questions.

The answer about the lack of a GUI when 'run when not logged on' is selected
surprised me - but is absolutely correct. There is no popup when that option
is chosen. You MUST be logged on to see popups.

The 2nd question about the error code is still up in the air. I am guessing
it is a Firefox error code - but can not figure out what it is complaining
about.

Several years ago there was an 'email zombie' script passing itself around
with the name 'I Love You' virus" It accessed the address book, and used the
mailto protocol to send itself to others. There were protections put into
place in the current browsers and email apps to prevent that. If this is a
Firefox thing I would look for a security setting on that subject.
