I may not have understood your situation, but it's possible part of your
trouble is the lack of a GUI for scheduled tasks when you select the option
to run even if not logged on. The 'run when logged on only' option shows the
activity on the screen, but the 'run when not logged on one does not.
The email error would be an additional problem, not part of that, and is
probably a Permissions error. I would check the email app for an Options
setting to not allow third party stuff to run the app.
