Vista Search Bar Woes

I just reformatted my comp and reinstalled vista... but I just can't get
my start menu search bar back to performing right with this fresh
installation. For example, in the past (and I assume this is normal), I
could type a program name and hit enter and it'll run the program.
Example, msconfig will open up my MSconfig. regedit would open up my
registry edit. Now, if I type... regedit , it just sits there and
searches for files by that name. Same with msconfig and all that. No
matter what I do, it only tries to search for files instead of running
the application. Even if I type .exe after it... Any suggestions to get
it back to the old way?

Brookie,

This behavior is controlled by a setting. Check the search settings for
the Start menu by right-clicking on a blank area of the menu and choosing
properties. Then click the Customize button on the Start Menu tab. Scroll
down to the item "search programs" and enable it. Now, when search
returns a named program , focus should shift to that name in the results
list and pressing Enter should run it.
