Vista seems laggy

      11-23-2008

Hi all, just done a fresh install of vista ultimate x64 and application
seem slightly laggy and i really dont know why. I dont run or hav
installed many applications, neither do i have a crappy computer (Qua
core, 4gb ram and an ATI 4850) my hard drive isnt slow either

Any suggestions

Have you installed SP1? Possibly the OS is indexing files, performance will
improve over a few days based on personal estimates. When you say laggy
though, could you give us some specifics, are you referring to boot time,
loading of desktop, application launch, gaming lost frame rates?

Generally you will also notice an improvement when Superfetch has
finished building up its initial cache. Might take a couple of days
also.

Forget it capin' crunch. W7 is built on Vista. If you don't like or
can't figure out Vista, then 7 will only add to your misery.

I think BVV has it right... but shut off the indexing service and see
if it improves. It's a total waste of time.
