vista service pack 1 problems upate error 8007277B and no sound

It seems Mr. bill has done it again, I thought it was me but I can see all of
us are having update errors, mine is error code 8007277B. Mine updater cannot
update and I have lost all my sound, any advice other wise I need to save up
and get a MAC.. thanks so much for your help..

Did Windows Update offer the machine Vista SP1 or did you choose to install
it manually?
