Vista Service Pack 2 Internet Explorer problem

Hi,

Over the weekend I upgraded my Windows Vista PC to service pack 2 when it
came backup I found I could no longer get onto the internet.

What has happenened is my onboard NIC does not work correctly so I replaced
it with one I had from an old pc and everything looks good, apart from I can
no longer get onto the internet using Internet Explorer.

I had a copy of Opera installed onto the pc and that works fine so I
downloaded IE8 and installed that but this has made no difference at all. I
can ping the internet both websites and IP addresses and I can browse with
Opera but I cannot even browse to a local website using its IP address.

Can anyone help?

If your gateway is missing, try this:
