Vista sidebar and FIngerprint reader problem

Whenever I try to click on any of the gadgets on my sidebar, the fingerprint
reader icon appears and blocks out the gadget. After googling I find that I
am not the only one with this problem, but havn't seen any solutions yet.
Can anybody out there help?
