ok, maybe your power management settings have been changed, i can onl
assume its the same for most vista versions, you need to be on as admi
and go tto control panel > hardware and sound > power options. The
simply click on the change when computer sleeps and set the timers. Hop
this help

I think its not Vista but settings of your Bios. Please check your wak
up settings in Bios

Drew and Taxi are both right. Your BIOS can set devices to "wake on
event". you need to check these out. Also, in your Device Manager, some
devices (like the network card) can be set to "wake on event" also.
Both areas are good places to check.

I too am having a sleep problem. When I first boot up most of the time it
will go to sleep when set which is monitor= 5min. and computer= 10min.
After first time it won't go to sleep again on its own. I can manually put
it to sleep with the windows key, right arrow, enter and it will 90% of the
time stay a sleep. I just don't understand why it will sleep on its own
first time but never after that unless I do it manually. Everything must be
set right or it wouldn't go to sleep the first time.

One could just as easily argue that everything must be set wrong or it
would go to sleep the second time.

It's obviously a subtle problem, but your argument might prevent you from
digging deep enough to solve it.

Sorry - I wish I could offer something more helpful, other than my
inspirational lecture :-)
