Vista is so unstable

Hi, I'm a university student. I have spent the last 10 hours summarising a
terms work for my rapidly approaching exams. I was sure to save my files
every half hour or so, thinking that that would be enough to not lose my work
in the event of a malfunction. However, I pressed save and my entire summary
of work simply disappeared! Fair enough. I wouldn't be so angry, but this is
the second time it has happened. The first time (on my previous computer), it
completely erased 7 weeks of work. So, I got a new computer, and guess what?
It has happened again. Not only that, but a BRAND NEW computer has had the
blue screen of death twice in the last month. Before it died at 6 months of
age, my last computer had the blue screen regularly (at least 3 times a
week). This has never happened on any of my other computers before that. This
loss of work has also happened to 2 of my friends. I have also noticed, that
anything that makes the hard drive work hard, also results in blue screen.
The only link that I can see between the 2 computers, is vista.

I also find, that my computer has to think hard about all the appearance
graphics and animations that have been put on Vista to make it look nice. I
have simply ditched the niceties and opted for performance, even though my
desktop now looks like window 95. What did I get? Blue screen. A friend of
mine has had the same computer for the last 6 years, running XP, and has a
perfectly stable platform and has had no problems with the operating system
(or hardware) whatsoever. Vista is easily the most unstable platform the
Microsoft has ever invented, it is a big step backwards from XP. Why do you
think that no business will change from XP? Too much hassle. I'm pretty sure
they would rather use DOS than Vista because it is more reliable.

Also, Vista has compatibility issues with nearly every piece of software and
hardware ever invented. Was it just made so that we have to buy new software
and hardware as soon as we get a new computer to boost Microsoft's profits?

As well as this, user account control is the most useless program. Why does
it ask you if you want to open the program, or if you trust it, WHEN YOU JUST
CLICKED ON IT!!!!!????

Vista also requires massive amounts of hardware just to run the program, and
it is still slower than all previous versions of Windows. I have a dual core
2.7 Ghz processor and it is still slow.

So, if anyone else feels the same way about Vista (total rubbish), then
please add to the discussion.

Yours sincerely,

A severely annoyed Vista user.

Whatever you do, you shouldn't cross the street as you might get ran over
due to your bad luck.

Most likely you visited a questionable web site and
contracted some sort of virus or malware. This is
your fault and not Vista's.

What application were you working in?

While Vista can be bad, it shouldn't eat your files. How have you
looked for them?

If you know which folder and path you 'save to' you could change the
sort order in Windows Explorer to "last modified" and that should make
the last worked on files bubble to the top of the list. If not, try
hitting refresh.

Have you tried using search to locate the files? Just click the Start
Orb, type the file name, wait a few seconds and Vista should start
building a list.

I'll share a funny story. Some guy years ago I used to work with was
working on a project that involved a large complex Lotus Spreadsheet.
Like you, he would save his work religiously every few minutes. To be
real sure, after he finished a month's data he would save again. He
made one dumb, but common mistake. He kept saving his work with the
same file name, over and over in effect overwriting his monthly data
for several years (what he really wanted was monthly figures) so all
he ended up with was his last ten minutes or so of work. Ouch!

He did this after:

Actually he would risk getting RUN over. You see Mr. Arnold, the event
didn't happen yet. You used 'ran over' implying the event already
happened.

You wouldn't say you're going to ran over somebody or would you?

I sure hope there aren't any English teachers present, so much bad
English spoken here. <giggle>

A real shame it didn't happen to your message :>(
I wonder why Vista worked this time and not for your summary of work?
If you feel the need to vent, climb on top of your house, you will find it
there.
If you have a problem, ask and there's plenty of help here.

Albright <giggling>? What is wrong with him? What can be said about the
old man? The old man has nothing else to do, the *old fart*. The old
*clown* sits in his wheelchair at his computer and reads every posts
made in the NG. He does it everyday 365 a year. He is totally
*ridiculous* and old. He should take a sleeping pill for once in his
sorry old over the hill and tired life. Maybe, several sleeping pills
might help him and a couple of Prozacs too, to easy his *troubled* mine.

The old man is a sad human being. He has got rings in his nose, and his
nose is wide open in the NG on everyone. When will the old man
check-out? When will he check-out?
