Maybe MS should forget service packs, and just start over from scratch.

Once Again, Microsoft Is Making A Big Mistake By Not Making This A Public
Beta, Just FYI.

P.S. Message For Microsoft: Thanks For Nothing, I'll Be Looking Forward To
Installing The Open Source Linux Ubuntu 7.10 Official Beta On This Thursday,
September 27th, 2007, Just FYI.

You're so busy changing operating systems that you have no time to actually
use your computer.

SP1 delivers a very underwelming set of improvements according to Brandon's
review--the chief one being that it allows everyone to have a rescue fix
mechanism that MSFT greedily kept from them when they bought their OEM Vista
preloaded PC.

Many of the major complaints reported by power users on this group and other
forums were not addressed at all.

Yep, something they should have done with Windows about a dozen years
ago.

if you had monopoly power, would you be responsive to customer
complaints?

It's a Service Pack, a roll up of existing security and hot fixes. It is
not the second coming of Christ as a lot of people mistakenly hype it up to
be.

It is the right position to take, it is far too early in the development
cycle to be rolled out widely.

Translation: Let the same morons that were beta testers and Microsoft
pencil pushers that "approved" Vista for release approve the patch
that's needed to fix their mistakes. Oh I see, makes perfect sense.
