Vista SP1 Breaks Computer

I tried to installed it and it corrupted IME files. After restarting, during
SP1 install, it gets stuck on a black screen and tells me that there's an
error !! 0xc0190036 !! for a file. I have to use system restore for anything
to work.

It looks like the SP corrupted several IME files: imjpdsvr imjpdadm imjputyc
imjpuex etc.

sfc, chkdsk, can't fix the problem. I've read elsewhere to take ownership,
add full rights, and then delete the files...that's supposed to work. Too
bad Vista refuses to let me delete them (through WE, cmd, cmd in safemode,
etc)...says access is denied. I can take ownership but that's it.

What do I do?

I'm one or two system restores away from XP goodness.

I have a very similar message (same code)

!! 0xc0190036 !! 608/68459 (HelpPane.exe)

I have been poking around the 'net, and it is a very common problem, but I
haven't seen a definitive answer yet. I finally got through to Microsoft
support, and they had no insight, other than to try to restore some files,
etc....unsuccessful. But I didn't have time to continue to conclusion, and I
will give them another try later.
