Vista SP1 RC1

when i try to install the Service Pack for Home Premium, i can get through
the first and second stages, but after my computer reboots for the third
stage, all i get is a black screen. any ideas?

Ask in the pre-release (Beta) newsgroups.
Windows Vista SP1 RC (Service Pack 1 Release Candidate) is *not* finished
and not supported.

Are you using an ATI or NVidia Graphics card? How much memory to you have on
your graphics card?
For memory < 256 MB, little known fact but Vista will not play well - hence
new phenomena [Black screen of death] vis a vis Blue screen of death.
Work around - in your bios, set your AGP aperture to the maximum value so
that more of your RAM is used to support display.
Most techs have not wisened to this issue. Dearth of information on the net
so you might get the run around.
