Hello,

I've a question... I'm trying to install SP1 for Vista...but its now already
more then 24 hours busy.
My laptop is restarting every 3 minutes and after that says again :
'fase 3 from 3 0%' and after a few minutes 99%

I don't think it's normal that it takes this long, is it? what can i do?
(sorry for my bad english)

thnx already for the help
greets Charley

Is SP1 being offered by Windows Update or are you attempting to install it
manually?

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)? Were any of these applications running
in the background when you attempted to install SP1?

Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the
computer (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought
it)?

Support for Vista Gold (no Service Packs) ended on Tuesday, 13 April 2010.
Computers still running Vista Gold "will no longer receive software updates
[e.g., SP1] from Windows Update" until SP1 has been manually installed
(which will require that several Prerequisite Updates be installed first).

That being said, free unlimited installation and compatibility support for
Vista SP1 has been extended a third time & now runs through 10 August 2010.
Some issues may require more advanced support for which there is a charge.

I readed it but don't understand how it can help, cause it's just telling me
whats going wrong but not what to do about it...

My laptop also doesn't give any error or something... it looks like its
still busy with the update...i have a blue screen with fase 3 from 3 which
comes up, go's from 0 % emidiatly to 99% after a minute and restarts then to
start this all over again. Windows is not starting up anymore at all, i even
dont get to the screen where i have to fill in my password or something...
The update is offered by windows update, so i thought it would be good to
install it, i do have to tell by it that before this update this laptop didnt
updated for 2 years...
I did had an anti-virus program running (avira antivir) but nothing else, no
appliciations running or anything else...I also never had Norton or McAfee
installed on it.
By now its taking already around the 30 hours... and i'm staring to stress a
little about it... My laptop just felt off cause it was to warm... after i
let it cool down a little i started it up again and it just go's on again
with the 'service pack instelleren fase 3 from 3'
Im affraid i can never start up windows anymore..and cant do anything
anymore with my laptop..

thnx for the help all!
