Okay, here's a strange one. vista sp1 failed to install within my system.
It went through all 3 parts of the install, restarted the machine. Then
after 30 seconds displayed the following message:" service pack install has
failed. reverting changes. do not shut down your computer". This is after an
hour and a half updating, nothing more. The system then restarted, normally.
No error message displayed. Windows update came up asking me to install one
important update, vista sp1. What goes on here?

Actually, please use this forum for all Vista issues, including SP1. If you
are having techncial problems with the installation, contact customer
support at http://support.microsoft.com - on the left choose Windows Vista
solution center, then on the top right, "contact a support professional".

The technet forum was for the RC preview versions and mostly for technet
users, it's not meant to scale up to broad product support issues.

thanks
