Vista SP2 Causes Problems

After I installed Vista SP2 via auto update I first noted that my Retrospect
backup program generated many errors. So I did a diskcheck (no Fix) on C:.
I had great difficulty deselecting the "fix errors" mode. I had to click to
deselect many times before it would deselect. Anyway I did run diskcheck C:
no fix and it ran BUT reported it fixed the problem. I was very taken back
by this so ran diskcheck C: in the fix errors mode, requires a restart. The
result was C: was fine No errors. I still have difficulity deselecting
diskcheck "fix errors". Retrospect ran 1 time without errors after C: was
"fixed" and then backups have the same many errors.

I also found the task scheduler has 3 problem reports:

The task image is corrupt or has been tampered with"
user_feed-synchronization {4112AD35-F935-4E95-8CAB-8A04FEE AB8082

The task image is corrupt ... mcudate

The task image is corrupt ... scheduled scanning

I believe the task scheduler is not working.

I used my The Ultimate Troubleshooter to clean C: After cleaning,
Retrospect ran one backup of user's data without errors.

I still have difficulity deselecting "fix errors" on diskcheck. I have also
had problems selecting items on other programs but problems are inconsistant.

I have Dell XPS 420 with 32 bit Vista Ultimate. I use Microsoft Update to
keep everything updated. All my Office programs work fine.

I am very worried about reports that Vista SP2 pervents comunications with
an XP machine on a local network. I will have to check this as my XP laptop
is a copy of my desktop for hurricane evacuation.

I think I found the reason for Retrospect errors. My antivirus (F-Secure)
stopped scanning on a manual scan and had to be stopped by End Task on the
Windows Task Manager, This happened three times. I removed F-Secure and
reloaded it from Embarq. It scans with out stopping and Retrospect is
running without errors.

I still have to wait 10 to 20 seconds before I can deselect "fix errors" on
diskcheck. If I hover over the deselect button it takes 10 to 20 seconds
before the background color changes to blue and selection can be made. This
delay also applies to Start & Cancel.
