Vista SP2 Update Errors 800F0823 and 800F0826

The service pack 2 update keeps failing. First with the error 800F0823 and
then when I try again with 800F0826. It just cycles between those two errors
each time I try to install.

I followed the instructions and tried to install SP2 through Windows Update.
It said it installed, but when I checked my system still says SP1. Update
history shows the Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (KB948465) update was
successful.

I still get notification that the Standalone service pack wants to install,
but when it tries it fails.

I'm stuck in a loop.

Installation Tips:

• Your computer will restart several times during the installation process:
Make certain you've saved your work and closed all open applications before
beginning the install.
