Vista still on the Disabled list

I would like to like Vista but yet again another reason I can find no reason
to like or use it:
Firing up the Live Mail application I get the warning box that only in tiny
type tells me Hotmail will not connect to this older product.
Aha, there is a new beta.
Did Vista find this and automatically update the program? Give me any
messages that a newer version was available?
Nah.
I won't even mention the message box I get from the new and improved Live
Mail, that I manually had to search out and download, about how it cannot
move messages I never asked it to move in the first place.
I guess that's part of the Vista WOW factor.
Back to XP, have to get real work done --Vista does not reliably connect to
XP wireless portable where needed documents are stored.

Hi, nsag.

You might not have noticed, but Windows Live Mail is still in beta testing.
Windows Mail is still the officially-supported mail/news client in Vista,
and it is supported via Windows Update. As with other beta products, WLM is
not yet officially a part of Vista and updates are available only through
beta channels (like the Windows Live Mail Beta website:
http://get.live.com/betas/maildesktop_betas).

As with any beta, please make any constructive comments in this newsgroups
and they will most likely be seen by WLM Team members, who read these posts,
although they don't have time to reply here to most of them. (Actually,
rants are welcome, too, especially if they offer more light than heat.)
With our help, the team can make the final version (due out next year?) a
program that we all will be glad to use.

Most of us here, though, are just users, like you. MVPs are NOT Microsoft
employees.
