I have a generic CE 4.2 device.
All I need to do is be able to explore the device.
When I plug it in I get the noises like it's going to work.
But then I get a error message that Host services have stopped responding.

I've used this device for the past year with no problem in XP.
No SYNC is desired.
I hate to have to boot to my old Hard drive just to download
1 file.

TIA

Robert

I didn't know to look for something like this, but when I go to the same
report, I get the following data probably from the first time WMDC stopped
working after a successful sync on Feb 4. The heading says "APPCRASH" and
that a report was sent.
---------------------------------------------
Description
Stopped working

Problem signature
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: WmdHost.exe
Application Version: 6.0.6783.0
Application Timestamp: 45b7b21a
Fault Module Name: unknown
Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0
Fault Module Timestamp: 00000000
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 04190144
OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.3
Locale ID: 1033

Extra information about the problem
Bucket ID: 9
------------------------------------------

Can you help me?

Harold

Christian:

1. The report I sent is the only one I see. So I suppose this is different
than the day-to-day problem I am having with trying to syn my smartphone to
my Vista pc.
2. My pc is a Dell XPS 410 that came just over 2 weeks ago with Vista Home
Premium. The mobile device is a Cingular 3125.
3. I have the 32 bit version of Vista.
4. I didn't know how to find this part of Vista (wercon) until I saw this
thread so I can't answer this question. Sorry.
5. What you see was copied from the report and pasted into my post so the #9
is what it says. I checked again to make sure that something unusual had not
happened, but what you see is what I see.

I appreciate your help.

Harold
