Vista is a total piece of ****.

I am job hunting and this morning using this O/S on my home computer
is a big pain in the neck.
It takes for ever to move though windows. It locks up all the time. I
cannot even bring up the word processor up to write a letter. I have
to go out to an employment place where at least they have XP and the
thing works. The minuet I have the money on a new job I am getting a
new computer and to hell with Vista. Three months and I hate the
thing. If you are thinking of getting it do not even waste your money.
I cannot even spell check this post. End off rant.

Or you could try an Open Source alternative now for nothing.

Do not mention to any future boss that you used vista..

he will fire you on the spot for using the horrid thing

If the looser can't even get vista to open word or similar do you really
think "Open Source" is the answer???

Install system and main utilities along with setting up internet and
em-mail, next step should be do the backup. Was that done?

I'm not a MS zealot but have butted heads with Linux over the years, good as
a hobby but to have a truly great Linux box you must be able to edit
everything manually. Then you get all the Linux loonies pointing out the
webservers that run almost flawlessly for years on end, yep they run well as
a server box, any server can do a similar if set up well, but Linux is free
and you can download a distro designed for that and go. Let Mr "total piece
of ****" loose inside the box and see what happens.
If you can't keep a win box going you have absolutely nil chance of using
any flavour of Linux. I run Vista on a lappy and haven't had too many dramas
with it. Only thing was a wrong codec pack I loaded (against Vista's
advise), my fault, I fixed it without a restore. Do you visit the Linux
forums and read the seemingly stupid posts made by people stupid enough to
take your advise and install Linux on a home workstation then can't do
anything they used to take for granted. Mention a compiler to the average
home user and wait for a response. In the same time it takes to learn the
basics of Linux you can learn to avoid most mistakes in the mainstream
operating system. Run 2 partitions, 1 for Os and APS one for data that way
you don't blow away your work that one day you may need a reinstall, makes
backups easier too.

They're right about Linux being just like communism, both are great ideas
that should work smoothly and easily for everyone, but don't.

PS. Little wonder they're unemployed.
