Vista Ulitmate - MUI Language Packs not appearing in Windows/Micro

I installed Vista Ultimate this weekend. Having been into Windows Update
immediately after starting up for the first time, I saw a long list of
Languages available to download.

Instead of installing all of these updates, I downloaded and installed the
Vista Service Pack 1 update from the download site instead.

Once I restarted the PC I went back to Windows Update and the language packs
had all gone and I cannot find them anywhere online. Apparently you can only
get them via Windows Ultimate (which obviously I can't as they're not
listed).

I thought that this may be due to the fact that they were installed by SP1,
but I cannot find them using the Display Language Switcher utility so I
assume they're not on my PC.

Can anyone offer any solutions as to why I can no longer see the Language
Packs on Windows Update, or how I can get them back? I want to install the
Swedish language files.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Many thanks,
Sean

Yep, correct -
http://windowsvistablog.com/blogs/wi...vista-sp1.aspx
We have some information we'd like to share in regards to Windows Vista SP1
and folks running Language Packs. Some of you may have noticed that after
installing Windows Vista SP1 on Windows Vista Ultimate - the Language Packs
fail to appear on Windows Update (KB947875).

We will be releasing Windows Vista SP1 in two "waves". The first wave will
only provide Windows Vista SP1 to Windows Vista Ultimate PCs running the
following 5 Languages: English, French, German, Japanese and Spanish. The
second wave will follow shortly after - supporting all 36 languages.

Interesting dilema. I have the opposite problem. Because I installed
all the Vista Ultimate Language Packs, I can't get SP1 to install
either by the standalone, nor the windows update site.

I'm guessing this will get ironed out after they catch up to the other
languages at some point.

However, that same standalone SP1 installed no problem on my home
machine that has Vista Home Premium.

I think MS may have jumped the gun a bit on releasing this Service
Pack as I am seeing a lot of issues out there about it.

I'm not even sure that SP1 offers that much improvement to really
worry about it.

Now they are talking about Windows 9? WTH? Is Vista just another
Windows ME?

I sure hope not.....

Respectfully,

Trev

thanks so much for the info TaurArian. Most appreciated.
Now I can rest assured that my Ultimate at work will get
SP1 eventually. My home premium worked great.

By looking at the original post from your PATH appears to be a legit
MSFT server and am hoping this info is accurate.

Thanks Again.

Respectfully,

Trev

Excellent - I'll echo Trevor and say many thanks for the information
TaurArian. That explains exactly what I needed to know.

Now I just have to sort out and refine my KB searching skills ;o) I did
search for this before posting here but used MUI...

Thanks again, I'll rest easy and wait for the 2nd wave!

Regards,
Sean
