I am not sure if I have been scammed by the seller of my computer or if I
have some other issues that are causing my validation to be required.

In one place it says that I may be a victim of software counterfeiting.
When I chose to go online and resolve it will not validate. In the other
place it says to activate windows now.

I purchased the computer in November 2007 and haven't had any problems until
this month. Is it a coincedence that it has been 6 months? Today is my last
day to activate and would like to know the best steps to take to resolve this
issue.

You are prompted to activate Windows Vista after you install Windows Vista
Service Pack 1: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947519

I still can't validate via the two resolutions that are on that link. Will I
need to purchase a full version of Ultimate to resolve this problem? I would
imageine that SP1 has been installed.

Sorry. It certainly does sound like you are a victim of counterfeiting. If
so, buying a new copy is your only recourse, beyond dealing with the seller.
This site will be the way MS helps determine validity:

And, of course, it can't be the fault of the WGA software, oh
nooooooooo, Microsoft doesn't make faulty software. Didn't you read that
the OP had no problems for SIX MONTHS and then, out of the blue, WGA is
accusing him of being a victim of piracy when, in reality, he's a victim
of Microsoft's flaky WGA software.

Tired of this crap? Do you want a real operating system that puts you in
control, not Microsoft? Check out Ubuntu at www.ubuntu.com. It's free
and comes with access to over 23,000 free programs.

What you can do with Ubuntu:

Email
Surf the web
Burn CDs.
Rip CDs.
Listen to music.
Watch vidoes/DVDs.
Scan and print.
Spreadsheets.
Presentations
Newsgroups.
HTML editing.
Games like Chess, Tetris, all kinds of solitaire, etc.
Make videos.
Download photos from a camera and organize them.
Translations.
Use a dictionary
Learn how to touch type.
Edit images.
Send and receive a fax.
Take screenshots.
Create .PDF files.
Create and use a data base.
Instant messaging with over 10 different programs in one including
Windows Live Messenger.
IRC.
Bluetooth.

and much more!

What you can't do with Ubuntu:

Worry about:
WPA and WGA raising their ugly heads,
DRM,
Viruses,
Root kits,
Spyware,
and
Malware.

Hi Pjugovich,

Have you tried doing a phone activation to see if you can get you copy
of Vista activated that way yet? This tutorial will show you how to if
needed.

Hope this helps,

As kind of the newbe on this site and putting up a legit post, I believe that
you both should take your conversation somewhere else. I probably won't
download or purchase from "Alias", because nothing in life is free.

Back to part of my original post, if I purchase a legit copy of Vista will
it overwrite or uninstall any of the programs that are already installed on
my computer?
