Has Microsoft gotten around the issues of having 4GB of RAM onboard? I
currently have 2 on my motherboard and have another 2 laying around
that I'm currently not using and was wondering if it would be worth it
to throw them in. Any problems/benefits in doing so? Thanks for any
forthcoming info!

Depending on what devices are mapping themselves in
you will get access to about 3.12 Gig or less.

If you have 64 bit Vista and a 64 bit CPU/chipset/motherboard, then yes.
Otherwise you'll only see anywhere from 2.75 GB to 3.25 GB (give or take),
depending on various factors.

Thanks for the info, Mike. I forgot to mention that I am running Vista
64 with a Core 2 Duo (E6850), Asus P5N-32E SLI Plus mainboard. I'll
pop them in tomorrow and see how it goes!

4GB RAM here, Vista Ultimate x86 sees 3.4GB, Vista Business x64 sees 4+GB -- NO
problems at all with either

Try displaying your memory map with 2M & 4M inserted. I'd like to see the
results if you care to post them. Memory map is available through device
manager -> view -> resources by type -> memory. I install Microsoft's text
printer to create a text files of info like this.

I'm using 8GB on my Vista X64 dual quad-core Xeon and I still have 4 empty
slots. I'll be at 16GB in a few weeks.

The board will support 32GB but the 4GB sticks were way too much for now.

I didn't see this until after I had already installed them, sorry.
Just looking under the System Info in Control Panel my Vista Ultimate
64 only sees 3GB, not the full 4. Things do run a bit more smoothly
and I can have more stuff open will less memory dumpage it seems...
