Vista Ultimate Boot Trouble

Wow do I need help! After installing Sony's photo software for my ne
camera a reboot was requested. Upon reboot system repair popped up an
failed to fix the problem. System restore told me that I have no restor
points, which I disagree with. The restore app had similar results. Wha
could cause vista not to boot? I have no idea where to begin.

I had some success with the "last known good condition" in safe mode.
Vista did reboot - I'M JUST NOT SURE WHAT PROBLEM I WAS HAVING. Th
software I installed is still there and it works

You most likely saw a bad install of the software itself. For using the
system restore feature did you boot from the Windows disk and try the
option for that in the repair tools? That may show the actual points
while the boot option is not dispaying them for some other reason.

The first thing however since you can boot up in safe mode would be to
remove the software to get Windows running normally again and later sort
out the details. You may have something running in the background during
the installation that caused the problem being seen there.

I actually don't have any windows disks. I have a restore partion and
guess I'm supposed to create my own disks. I understand the importanc
but who has the time. For the price of the machine I would expect
little support when it fails, silly me! Everything is working fine now
including the software I installed. I guess i should create som
restore disks while I have the chance. Thanks for your help

I would make the time while you can before anything happens to th
recovery partition and the files stored there. Most laptops and deskto
models now see the factory restore option at post time to see everythin
redone automatically.

But having the set of separate disk also allows the use of repair tool
and the command prompt instead of seeing everything started fresh al
over again! Those can bail you out at times for the less involve
repairs you can perform there
