I need help to be able to install updates from windows update.

When I have installed an update (it seams like I could be anyone of the
updates) the computer installs it properly and tells me to to push restart
after the sucessfull installation. But the computer can't restart after the
installation. It starts but then after a few seconds in shuts down. Next time
when I try to start the computer, I get the questions if I whant to start it
safe mode or the other options. But most of the time the computer has already
been shout down again bofore or right after I have choosen one of the options.
Luckely, somtimes it takes a little bit longer before it shuts down and then
I can start in safe mode and go back to a earlier configuration.

What shold i do to be able to install the updates?

Hello Andreas,

You could try a restore point to see if it brings the system back to how it
was before you did whatever you did. Doesn't always work for applications
but won't hurt to try.

Hope you got backups of data files.

Also, next option - free Windows Update support incident request:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...spx?gprid=6527

https://support.microsoft.com/common...h=1&gprid=6527

Support for Windows Update:
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/wusupport

I hope this post is helpful.

Let us know how it works ºut.

It 'sounds' as if a driver is causing this issue.
Suggest you boot straight to Safe Mode by repeatedly pressing the F8 key
just after hearing the 'beep' from the tower.
Once in Safe Mode open the Device Manager [right click My Computer
either on the Desktop or Start Menu and choose Manage]
Check to see if there are any yellow exclamation points for any
installed hardware.
If you find one, double click the problematic device and then click the
Driver tab.
Use the 'Rollback Driver' button to reinstall the previous driver that
functioned correctly.

I have tried the solutions mentioned. But there was no errors for any devise.

When a reoot is called from Vista ,the hard drive seems like it stops during
restart.
So i have to keep power it up again and again.
Sometimes it takes a litle bit longer befort it shuts down again that safe
mode can be started. And then i can go back to a old restore point.
The problem is not onley for windows update it also hapend now when i tried
to install a new web cam. After the istallation a where asked to restart the
computer, and it was the same problem. So it dosen't seem like it matters
what drivers are installed before the restart is called. So i think it is
someting with the restart procedure.
But what do i know....Help

Is the Hard Drive SATA or PATA ? You can check that in Device Manager.
When you utilize a restore point is the issue resolved ?
