Vista Ultimate Dream Scene

When I first installed Vista Ultimate, the dream scene worked great. Then,
when there was an update to the Dream Scene content from microsoft
(basically, it just added a few more choices of videos), Dream Scene stopped
working. It just shows a black screen with little squares moving around on
it. It isn't as if this is a vital feature of Vista, but I was just wondering
if anyone else had run into this problem, and what they did to solve it.

Thanks!1

Can you reenable it back from under Personalize > Change Desktop Background?

Have you updated you video card drivers lately?

Normally that is a symptom of a bad video card or Driver.

My video card is fine. There are a couple of other short video clips that I
have that work as a desktop background. The only difference I can find,
though, is that the videos that do work are .wmv, while the dream scene
videos are .mpg files.

Sorry, Mick, that's just nonsense.

I have the same problems. People have paid over the odds for Dreamscene and
to fob off with a 'bad driver' generic diagnosis is extremely unhelpful.

Jim, I can get the desktop wallpaper changer to preview the material (by
which I mean it shows up with 'filmstrip' icons) but nothing works from
there, just giving me a black desktop. However, the video plays fine in WMP.

This is on a Sony AR31, vista ultimate UK, with official Sony/Nvidia
drivers.

Ring any bells?

I have the same problem, pretty-much, except DreamScene itself works
just fine, but no DreamScene content is showing up in Windows Update
w/Microsoft Update enabled.

So far, I've been unable to find a solution other than reinstalling
Vista clean. And I'm not even sure that will work. I plan on
reinstalling my system tomorrow morning. I will let y'all know
whether that reenables DreamScene content on WU.

I will keep working for a little while, but it appears right now that
DreamScene content is still unavailable via Windows Update with
Microsoft Update enabled.
