I am considering going to 64-bit Ultimate, but need to know:
1. Can I run XP in a virtual machine? IF so are there instructions on how to
do this?
2. Does it run the 32 bit programs that Home Premium runs without exception?

Yes you may run Windows XP in a virtual machine. I would recommend installing
Microsoft Virtual PC 2007:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pro...c/default.mspx

As far as using a 64-bit version of Windows Vista, unless you have applications written to
take advantage of 64-bit processing, I would recommend installing the 32-bit version
for full 32-bit compatibility and performance.

Yes it can. Ignore the "this is unsupported" message. I'm running it right
now on Home Premium with Windows 7 Beta installed...

Asking a question?
Please tell us the version of the application you are asking about,
your OS, Service Pack level
and the FULL contents of any error message(s)

Or try VirtualBox, http://www.virtualbox.org/

Reviews for this are far better than MS VirtualPC.

(Take all of Carey's recommendations with a grain of salt. He will ALWAYS
recommend MS products whether or not they are the best solution. For
instance, his 'recommendation' for AV is MS OneCare, which regularly
finishes near the very bottom against other AV products.)

And I just finished installing it on Vista Home Premium w. 32 bit.
There were no complications whatsoever.
Am fairly new here, but already enjoying my stay immensely.
No end to what can be learned, and with such helpful gestures.

Harry.
