I'm running Vista Ultimate, ASUS MB, AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core, 2
memory and e-GeForce 8500 GT graphics card. I have installed the lastes
nvidia BIOS and graphic drivers. My problem is the system hangs afte
boot, before the signon screen, at the screen with the green progres
bar and the Microsoft logo. I've waited as long as an hour befor
forcing power off and restarting. It will always start in safe or saf
w/networking but on normal windows it hangs. I have to repeat forc
power off and restart up to 5 times before it finally starts. I've go
NTBTLOG of both safe and normal start with hang. Problem is there's
bunch of did not load driver entries. I've swaped graphic cards
keyboards, mice. unplugged USB devices. What I need is some tool tha
will tell me what is it hanging on

If you try starting in Safe Mode you will get a list of drivers as they are
loading. Keep pressing F8 on bootup to get the option.

How do you press F8?

It never hangs in safe mode. The last drive shown in Safe boot is
CRCDISK but it goes on from there and comes up. What I need is to see
what is loaded during a normal boot. I have a NTBTLOG of both a safe
mode and normal mode boot. The last drive loaded in a normal boot is
cdfs.sys

I had this happen with Vista RC2, when my TV card was fitted, on my Asus P5W
DH Deluxe motherboards, a few months before Vista final was released. In
the end, a BIOS update from Asus solved the problem.

Things that I suggest you try:

See if it boots okay with any extra PCI/PCIe cards removed, like RAID
Controllers, soundcards, TV cards, etc.

Restore BIOS settings to default.

Update BIOS to latest version.
