Okay, this is probably going to sound stupid but I have to ask.

I was given Vista Ultimate a few weeks ago but my Laptop can only handle
Home, is there anyway I can set it to install a chopped Ultimate or the Home
version?

Thanks in advance

You didn't list your system specs in the lower left hand corner. If yo
have a notebook, bumping up the memory can help bring you to the nex
level (if that's an issue with MS Adviser). With desktop, you can bum
up memory, video card, etc

Hi,

It's not the disk, it's the product key that determines which version gets
installed. Overhead for Home Premium and Ultimate are pretty much the same,
so if your laptop can't handle one it's unlikely that it will handle the
other.

Thanks for the reply, I used the upgrade advisor to determine if it would
run, I said that Home premium would run all features but due to memory and
video that Ultimate would not. I know it's the Key that determines which is
installed but I only have the Ultimate key.

Thanks
Henry

Oh, and sorry for the delay in getting back to you, my wife took over my
computer and I had to beg her to let me have it back.

Just don't install the parts of Ultimate that the laptop can't handle. For
example you need a minimum amount of video ram to run the Ultimate Extra
called Dream Scene, which gives you a video as your desktop background. I
stopped using that anyway on my Vista Ultimate.

No way is that correct. Please explain why you think that's so.

Am thinking that an advisor was run that "recommended" Home Premium as
opposed to Ultimate.
