Vista Ultimate OEM DVD

I bought Vista along with new MB, CPU etc... and as I look through all
this stuff I realize it says it is a 32bit version.

I know the 64 bit version causes some problems, but mostly wiht
hardware, however all my hardware is new and vista 64 compatible, so I
feel like that would be the better choice. Software that is 32 bits
still runs anyway.

The question I have is: do all Vista DVDs contain the 2 versions (32
AND 64 bits) even though it says it's a 32bit version? Or do I have to
specifically get the 64bit version?

I read on the web that the DVD contained boths version for easy
migration in the future, but I don't want to open it up to figure out
it doesn't have the 64 bits version!

Anyone got the DVD containing both versions?

The "retail version" of Windows Vista Ultimate includes
both a 32-bit and 64-bit installation DVD. OEM versions
only include either the 32-bit or 64-bit DVD, but not both.
That is another reason OEM versions are priced less than
retail versions.

OEM versions are specific to each version. Boxed retail copies of Ultimate
come with both 32-bit and 64-bit discs, other retail SKUs have instructions
for ordering the 64-bit version.

whereas the full retail version has the option to get the 64bit version for
no added cost from MS.

You are not understanding correctly. Vista Ultimate comes with both DVD's in
the package.

So, I got 2 opposite views here...
Retail has both and OEM is seperate.
You say OEM has both too... Do you know for sure?

I don't want to open my box and figure out it's not right, and not be
able to return it.
I'd love to believe you but I'd like a tangible reason.

Not necessarily, OEM versions have always cost less, remember there were no
64-Bit versions of Windows ME, 2000 Pro, or 98. The reason why OEMs do not
include 64 bit media is because they want to reduce complexity and make it
easier for consumers to decide, so they go with the most likely compatible
platform that is supported throughout the industry. Consumers can request
the 64 bit media and pay for shipping and handling.

Windows Vista DVD will have either 32 bit or 64 bit not both.
What the DVD is labeled is what the DVD has.
All retail Windows Vista DVDs have all versions of Windows Vista,
Starter, Home Basic, Premium, Business and Ultimate.
You may be confusing information you have heard including the
different versions with including both 32 bit and 64 bit.

OEM, any version, Home Basic, Premium, Business or Ultimate come with
32 bit or 64 bit media, not both.
You choose at time of purchase.
If later you want the other, then you will also need to purchase the
other.
Another of the many reasons you pay less for OEM.

Retail:
Windows Vista Ultimate comes with both 32 bit and 64 bit DVDs in the
box.
Home Basic, Premium and Business come with 32 bit media in the box and
have information in the box on ordering the 64 bit DVD for a small
cost.
All four retail also have information in the box on ordering the media
on CDs.

Vista Starter edition is not distributed as retail product, only as an OEM
license in 139 developing countries.

OEM is similar to retail, but the thing is for all OEM versions, you only
get the 32 bit version, its up to you to request the 64 bit media which they
will ship to you for free or you pay shipping and handling depending on the
OEM.

All retail versions of Vista except for Ultimate only include the 32 bit
DVD.
