The latest version of Vista Daniel is SP1. Take a look at this MSKB:
How to troubleshoot USB device problems that may occur after a portable
computer that is running Windows Vista resumes from sleep or from
hibernation
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/953367
I find this particular MSKB a little bit of a fudge because the admonition
to "install the latest updates" is about as vague as it gets considering
their are several hotfixes available in an average month on Tuesdays.
If you don't have Vista SP1 please install it. Vista SP2 is now in Beta
Testing, and it's projected it will be released around the first quater of
2009 but your milage may vary with predicting releases of Windows OSs and
their service packs.
Good luck,
