If I buy a Vista Ultimate Upgrade license with the media included can I
install this onto a new machine without any OS on it from scratch
or does the installer want to see an existing OS to install onto?

The upgrade is designed to be started from within a valid version of
Windows - unless you use one of the various hacks that are found on the
internet.

Hi G.Mester,

Yes, you can do a clean install with a Upgrade version of Vista. This
will show you how. Be sure to read the Warning at the top.

Vista has *nothing* to do with it, lame brain. It works now and I'm
using Ubuntu to access it (www.ubuntu.com). When I tried it yesterday,
it must have been down.
