i have been having issues since the install of VU. when VU goes into it's
new sleep mode, my computer can not wake up! I have Microsoft's wireless
weekboard and mouse.. Orginally I used the basic drivers that were
installed... still didn't wake up-further only two of the mouse buttons were
recognized. I have just upgraded the drivers to the new MS keyboard/wireless
mouse drivers but the system will still does not come out of sleep? I have
look though the power setting, but I was unable to find anything to disable
this option? open for suggestions. My only option now is to hold the power
button for 5 seconds and then turn the computer back on.

I'm not sure why your keyboard won't wake the computer. The ability for the
mouse to do so is in Device Manger. Double-click your pointing device, and
look at the Power Management tab.

You may also want to try this:
Make sure your mouse's wireless receiver is plugged in and active (this is
important). Go to Control Panel (Classic View) > Windows Update. Click on
Check for Updates. Choose to install the Optional Hardware Update called
"Microsoft HID Non-User Input Data Filter".

I checked the device manager, both are checked. I have also checked the
receiver and it is fine. I even changed the batteries in both the keyboard
and the mouse, still no luck? I also have this problem in SuSe. At first I
thought it was a Linux issue, now I think it maybe a monitor issue? what do
you think.....

Well, too, check your BIOS settings to see if any settings there might be
appropriate to this issue. The Microsoft HID Non-User Input Data Filter
update, is one appropiate to Microsoft IntelliPoint software. Did you
install that?

Try this.

Open Command Prompt and type

powercfg -a

Press Enter on your keyboard. This reports the available sleep states on
your system, and attempts to report why sleep states are unavailable.

Too, in Control Panel\Power Options, try toggling your selected power plan
(choose a different one, close Power Options, then open Power Options, and
choose the original one).

Another consideration is updating your display adapter driver.
