Hi reductant,

Did you check the settings in "Power Options" to make sure "sleep
after" or "Allow hybrid sleep" was on and that "hibernate after" is set
for never in advanced power settings?

Hi, I'm sure it is checked. I went into the advanced power options and
enabled it. But when I tell the computer to sleep, the screen goes off but
Windows pops up at the welcome screen about 5 seconds later. It does this
both before and after I enabled hibernation. The computer will hibernate.

I know this sounds funny, but try turning your mouse upside down (wheel
side up) when you put the computer to sleep. Sometimes the slightest
movement of the mouse will bring it back awake. I noticed that when I
put mine down to sleep and get up from the desk that sometimes it just
pops back awake. Turned out I moved the mouse slightly when I got up.
It finished going to sleep then poof awake.

tick one checkbox in power management of the mouse properties in device
manager so it doesnt allow to wake the computer.
