To be honest I’ve been pushing this installation off because of the errors
encountered and since I have the company laptop – with XP. ;-) But now I’ve
tried everything that I may know, searched everywhere without any success.

Here goes:

PC characteristics:
Dell Inspiron 530
Processor 1.8Ghz
Ram 2Gb
Vista SP1

1. Used ZapMessenger.exe because of previous installation of Windows Live
Messenger. Don’t remember the version thou…
2. Tried to install Messenger.MSI but had the following error :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ UIPlugins\{0776F107-F5A6-404B-9A78-7027FA6EAADD}. “Verify that sufficient privileges…”
3. Regedit it at UIPlugin. In Security, I added my name then assigned my
user as full control. Then “Windows Security” appeared “Unable to save
permission changes on UIPlugins. Access is denied.” Weird cause I am the
admin of my PC..?? Anyhow, I’ve once read somewhere else that “Everyone” was
suggested to be set within the “group or user names.” Same procedure was done
in the above and had the same results as for the error.
4. I then tried the wlm85.msi and came with the same error shown in “2.”

I must say that I did have an older version of “Windows Live Messenger”
working on this machine but since I tried installing the latest version – no
success.

Thanks 4 your help!

Steve
