Vista Unmounting devices

I am not sure but I think I have serious install problems, vista running
with onecare live, keeps disconnecting my IDE DVD Rom and DVD ram drives,
and showing them as hidden or unplugged devices. Like wise, I am getting
crashes all over the place and BSOD's yet vista recons that the install is
fine, as does onecare any ideas please??
