Vista Home Premium on HP Pavilion DV6000-series laptop.
Since configuring mediacenter to receive TV via. a USB tuner, the laptop
unwantedly wakes from hibernation at 12 midday. It then stays on and
flattens the battery! I have examined the event log and it seems that
ehSched, which updates the TV Program Guide, is most likely responsible.

I cannot find where it is being scheduled from!!! I have checked "show
hidden..." in Task Scheduler, but cannot find any entry for ehSched. No
entry in the Scheduler is set to 'wake to run task' in any case.

Help!! Where is this confounded thing being run from?

This must be fixed.... it is a complete nuisance to find the laptop running
and the battery nearly down and is also a severe fire risk... the laptop
could be in its carrycase!! If I hib a PC I expect it to stay that way!

TIA

James:-)

Does Scheduler Library- Windows- MediaCentre task 'mcupdate' match the
time ?
Maybe that initiates ehsched. It has the usual 'AC power only' and 'do
not wake' setting etc. although I see you say no task is actually set to
wake.

Update can also be set to manual in Media Centre setup.

Yes, it has Media Center. Works very well, apart from this problem!

Hi Tom :-) I changed the setting in Media Center to manual and it seems to
have fixed it. Many thanks for your suggestion! I never found out where it
is scheduled from, which is a pity, since I could have changed it to update
in a more friendly manner. Nevermind. But it is sure dangerous the way it
is; most users would not be aware of this and could end up with fried
laptops or worse.

Thanls again! James :-)

James,
thanks for posting the result, however I see a post here from 'M Krantz'
who has the same problem even when set to manual.
