Vista Update Installs Over and Over

I posted this a few days ago but didn't receive any replies, so thought I'd
try again.

Vista keeps reinstalling the same update over and over. My update list
shows that it has been installed six times, but it still pops up again. This
is so annoying that I've turned automatic updates off. I'll be this is a
registry issue but don't know exactly what. Any ideas? Thanks.

Perhaps your posts would get more replies if you'd tell us (1) what update
keeps reinstalling and (2) if there are any errors associated with these
installation failures.

Since you haven't provided the specific update that is continually being
reoffered, here's a guess as to which one it is:

An update is available that improves the compatibility and the
reliability of Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 on a
Windows Vista-based computer
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941833

If that's the one, then click the link for the " Known issues with this
update " heading and follow what is laid out.
If it's not the update, then please post which one it is.

Did it actually install and run?
Have you rebooted since installation?
