I have my PC set to automatic update. Everyday it installs the secrurity
patch Security Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2
(KB936181). The Update history says it has been installed sucessfully (every
day for the past few weeks). Does anyone know how to check if it has been
installed and if so how to stop this update re installing

Thanks

I'm having the same problem. I'm running Windows XP Pro, SP2 and have been
getting this automatic update for the past week or two. The update history
indicates it's installing again and again and again. This would appear to be
a Microsoft problem.

Start a free Windows Update support incident request:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...spx?gprid=6527

Support for Windows Update:
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/wusupport

Customers in the U.S. and Canada can receive technical support from
Microsoft Product Support Services at 1-866-PCSAFETY. There is no-charge for
support calls that are associated with security updates. When you call,
clearly state that your problem is related to a Security Update and cite the
update's KB number (e.g., KB931678).

In other countries, see
http://support.microsoft.com/default...r=securityhome > "No-Charge
Support...for virus and other security-related" issues in right-hand menu
for localized contact information.

For more information about how to contact Microsoft for support issues,
visit the International Support Web site:
https://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx

I also contacted Windows Update Support and was provided a solution that
works. In my case, I had to download MSXML4.0 Service Pack 2, run the program
and select "Remove". Then run it again to reinstall. Then had to download,
remove, and reinstall MSXML4.0 SP2 Security Update (KB936181) and re-boot.
This seems to have solved the problem.
