I came home this evening at 6:00 PM to find my 6 mo old HP Vista laptop with
a message on a Vista boot splash screen that says to the effect, "Please do
not shut down or re-boot this computer. Installing Part 1 of Vista Update."
It is now 9:17 PM, EDT and the same message is there.

I'm running Norton 360. with automatic Live Update and daily scans; Webroot
Spy-Sweeper v5.5.7 with daily sweeps, Ad-Aware 2007 with daily runs and
Spy-Bot with Tea Time installed with daily runs.

Anyone else seen this recently?
