After accepting the recommended updates this morning, Vista has gone into a
loop. The system will shutdown, restart goes to configuring 3 of 3 95% then
repeat. I have started in all safe modes and get the same result.

How can I get Vista to boot successfully?

The update is not installed successfully, you receive a message, and the
computer restarts when you try to install an update in Windows Vista

I hope this post is helpful.

Let us know how it works ºut.

Assuming Vista, not Vista SP1, see:

The update is not installed successfully, you receive a message, and the
computer restarts when you try to install an update in Windows Vista:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949358

A software update is available for the Windows Vista installation software
feature:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937287

Unlimited installation and compatibility support for Vista SP1 is available
at no charge *but only through 18 March 2009*!! (Today is 03 March so
you've got 15 days left!!)
