i installed the second update (...79) and was bummed to see that start
up times, sleep, hibernation, and restarting from hibernation hasn't
been speeded up one iota. I got ZERO performance improvements. I also
had to do 2 repairs on wirelessnetworking to get access to the internet
on 2 subsequent reboots, following the installation of that update. I
guess the good news is the update didn't hose my laptop. sigh.

Nothing I'm reading about these updates will make any difference with the
continuing program problems I'm having - how about the messenger video/sound
problems?????//.

Just completed download and manual install of both items from the links to
Microsoft.

This on my Athlon 64 3700+ laptop 2GB ram 2GB PowerBoost (Vista Ultimate x64).

I can report so far (after limited testing) a slight improvement in boot
time (from about 50 to 45 seconds, power off to signon screen).

All previous functions seemingly intact after each reboot and no
reconfiguration necessary.

I realize problems could arise later, but, so far, so good.

Sorry for the PowerBoost reference, what I meant was ReadyBoost. My ISP is
using a feature they call PowerBoost to speed up larger downloads.
