Vista User Icons don't work

I have Vista installeed on an Acer laptop. It boots to the logon scree
with my user icons. When I double-click, the first click highlights th
icon, the second click does ntohing. I can double click the other icon
same thing happens

Any ideas

You're only supposed to single click on the user icons at the Logon Screen.
What changed between the time things worked and the time they didn't? What
is the virus/malware status of the machine?

Hello there, you could try to press enter instead of doing the second click,
you could also use the numeric keys to select the n-th icon.

I think the system files are corrupted, you should try to run the following
command from an administrative prompt: sfc /scannow
