I noticed my system was stalling due to what seamed top be a cache option in
yahoo messenger playing launch cast
I couldn't get the launch cast to start playing which is a plug-in
integrated in the messenger.

I booted my system and now all my windows regardless of the window being
explore, IE, Firefox and any other program the "X" in the upper right hand
corner is grayed out.

I am running Vists Home Premium and never had that issue befor today.

Anyone seen this issue before?

I am running AVG Antivirus software which is updated daily and ran full
system scan and no virus's found

4 gig ram, K8 3.2 processor, gigabyte board
ide western digital drives
system is not dual booted
?

Hard to figure what might have caused it but since today is the first time
it has appeared, you might try using System Restore to take your system back
to a time prior to when this began. Start\Programs\Accessories\System
Tools\System Restore. While System Restore is meant to only restore your
settings and registry to a point to a specific point in time, as a
precaution it is always best to make sure your data is well backed up.

I found the answer
A couple of days ago I had renamed the user32 file to .bak and never
rebooted
renamed back and booted and obtained the options back
the "X" is no longer grayed out

got to read up on that file and see what it does
thanks
