Vista Virtualization - Business and Ultimate Only????

I read a tech article, stating that Vista can only be virtualized on the
Business and Ultimate (> $300) packages. They make an excuse about
security being the reason, but the analysts think it is so that people
will not virtualize Vista on MAC AND LINUX boxes, and use the Windows
10% of the time. I have the Business Vista (got it from upgrades to
Dell boxes $10.00), and it works fine...although it is a pig (Memory
Hog). So MS is holding on to their marketshare by their fingernails,
putting more FUD out there, saying that we are unsecure. My firewall
say differently, so I will continue to virtualize at will. It is too
bad that the "FLAGSHIP" product will be their demise.
(I am a PC user, and MS Certified).

What has "Security" to do with installing Vista on a virtual machine -
that's your problem - install all you want but keep in mind licensing is
still rquired.

Vista Enterprise permits the installation on four virtual machines under the
product key.

Hi,

I don't believe this is a technical limitation but more of a licencing
issue.

I would imaging that Microsoft VM, VMWare etc would work and allow you to
run virtual machines, however MS would decline to support you if you
experience technical issues which are OS related.

If you wish to virtulise another copy of the host OS then that would also be
a sepreate issue and you may need to purchase additional licences depending
on which version of Vista you are using as the host and virtual OS.
