Using Vista Ultimate with SP1 RC1, all of a sudden, in the past 72 hours, I
have lost control of my screen properties. Dream scene is stuck and I cannot
access any settings. I cannot get Windows Update to function, no response
upon double clicking any of its icons. I cannot access control panel in the
usual way. I cannot print. I cannot generate a system health report. The
problem reporting tool for SP1 does not function. Windows Mail freezes
seconds into opening. IE7 is behaving erratically, when I go to a secure site
including Microsoft, instead of a green address bar I have a pink one and I
cannot input any information. I updated my ATI display driver and it did
nothing. I do not use McAfee nor do I have firewall software that could be
causing the problem (I use an external hardware firewall along with Vista's
built in firewall). Can anyone help?

Perhaps you should uninstall it and wait for the final version.

Hi Terry,

If your having that many problems, I would recommend uninstalling the
SP1. This will show you how.

I doubt that waiting is going to bring Vista users much joy. Read this
article "Vista's Upgrade: Not Worth the Wait" to get a feel of what the
real business community thinks ...

http://www.businessweek.com/magazine...9000450184.htm

Cheers.

PS. Frankie Boy, I know that you state you never follow links posted on
Usenet for fear that it might educate you, or worse, install some malware
on your Vista box (which is certainly possible), but the link above is
worth your reading. The links in my sig are also good reading if you truly
want to take the first steps towards dealing with your brain injury.

So the distillation of that article is:
* he's hitting unidentified crashes in Vista
* doesn't like UAC
* unidentified DVD burners don't have Vista drivers(?)
, right? I'll follow up with him about the crashes at the least.

Cheers,
