It's an oem that has already been activated on this machine only!

So I guess am supposed to waste my time with their phone activation since it
wont do it online ?

You can get started with phone activation by typing "slui.exe 4"
(w/o the quotes) in the Start Search box in the Start Menu and pressing
Enter.
The phone activation process takes about 6 minutes.

Only 6 minutes to regain the use of something already paid for. Now,
let's see here, last article I saw claimed there were 55 million users
so that's 6 X 55 = 330 million minutes or 5.5 million hours spent on the
phone reactivating that which is already paid for. Now, ignoring
possible phone charges and assuming a dismal $10 an hour earnings that
is 5.5 X 10 million dollars worth of production right down the toilet.
MS don't earn anything from it, in fact it most certainly costs them do
it, and the country doesn't earn anything from it.

So explain to me again how using Microsoft software improves business?

But anyone using a pirate copy has no trouble.

Hmmm....

I assist folks with solving their issues...I don't make MSFT policy.
Folks having WGA issues account for less than 1% of total users.
In most cases, a third-party program has interfered with their licensing
service.

Wasn't aimed at you personally of course, but now you mention it I
wouldn't mind getting paid that "< 1%" at $10 an hour...

There are several alternatives to you wasting your time:

1. Hire someone to do the activation.

That's the only one I can think of right now.

Where is your proof to back up that statistic, Carey?

Priceless quotes in m.p.w.vista.general group:
http://protectfreedom.tripod.com/kick.html

"Fair use is not merely a nice concept--it is a federal law based on
free speech rights under the First Amendment and is a cornerstone of the
creativity and innovation that is a hallmark of this country. Consumer
rights in the digital age are not frivolous."

MS FUD said it. Carey read it and that settles it.

3 out of every 4 people make up 75% of the population

Anybody can make up statistics and if they post it, others think it's
gospel!
